So, I have either been living under a rock or just out of touch with what’s new. Probably both. Have you heard of subscription boxes? They are basically grab bags for adults with a theme. There are make-up, food, jewelry, household, candle, mommy and dude boxes. There are boxes curated by celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, Tyler Florence and Pink…well, there is a box for just about every category. There are a ton of companies doing them too. The gist is, you sign up for a monthly subscription. They range anywhere from $7.00 to $75.00 per month and most include shipping. Some companies will let you purchase just 1 month, while others make you sign up for 3+ months. Most let you cancel at any time. These companies then assemble and ship out the boxes to their subscribers each month. Generally all of the subscribers get the same things, although there can be variables and most of the time what you received is a much higher value than what you paid. It’s a chance for you to try and be exposed to new products and companies you may never have heard of. There are also a bunch of brand name sub boxes and you get to try hot new products from them as well.

Now, I am not much of a shopper but I do love to play with make-up. When I read about the IPSY Glam Bag subscription and all of their great reviews, I just had to give it a go. IPSY was created by some of the top beauty bloggers and YouTube make-up gurus around. Each month, subscribers receive a Glam Bag, which is a cute make-up bag filled with 4-5 deluxe and full-size make-up products. IPSY sends out the same bag to everyone with some small variations based on a beauty quiz you take when you sign up. They also have a forum where you can upload videos and pictures featuring looks you have created with your Glam Bag. IPSY is a bargain at $10.00 per month (they charge you when it ships) and includes free shipping.

The bag is shipped each month in this snazzy pink envelope.

The samples come packed in a different make-up bag each month. These bags are great for make-up or my favorite….art supplies. Value – $2.00

Included with your bag is an info card that is actually a discount card from all the companies participating in that month’s bag (you get the actual coupon code when you log into your Ipsy acct.) Discounts seem to range from 20%-50%off. You will receive 5 samples from the companies listed. There was also a coupon card for $110 off Hair Styling Tools and Extensions from NuMe. That is a HUGE savings!

So, here is what I got.

Inside my bag, I received these 5 items.

Zoya Nail Polish in Gie Gie – FULL SIZE! Value $8

I love Zoya nail polish. They make the most gorgeous colors. As a big plus, they are 5-free and their polish has real staying power. This is a really pretty sparkly pale pink color. I usually wear pale pink on my nails so I was thrilled to get this color and not one of the other 5 shades. Maybe I will do a matte pink base with this as a French tip?

Yaby Concealer in Honey - Value $4.85

This was the one item I wasn’t thrilled with. I don’t use concealer and this isn’t close to my color. This is also a refill pan so you would need a case or z-palette from getting it gunked up. Good thing IPSY has a swap forum where members trade items they don’t want for ones they do. Love that.

Mirabella Colour Sheer in Pixie – FULL SIZE! Value $22

The first thing I thought when I opened this lipstick was…crap. Neon orange lipstick, poop. Well, guess what? It is a “lip sheer.” Think tinted lip balm. It’s silky smooth with a mango butter base that nourishes the lips. The color is a sheer pop that turns out is really flattering. Never in a million years would I have bought a lipstick in this color and now it’s going to be my new favorite summer color. See, trying new things pays off!

Pacifica Island Vanilla Roll-on Perfume – Value $12

Now, I was excited to open this one! This roller-ball perfume is a gorgeous vanilla scent. It’s sweet, warm and relaxing. The Man loves vanilla scents on me…and let me tell ya, it was like bees to honey with this one! I also like that Pacifica perfumes are free of phthalates, nitro-musks, benzene and other nasty stuff. Oh, they are 100% vegan too.

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel – 2.5 ml – Value $7

Anastasia is known as the brow tamer to the stars. I recently just got my brows tamed by a professional and could kick myself for not have done it sooner. Good lord, it makes a difference. The lady reshaped them a bit and it made a huge difference. This brow gel should help tame them a bit more and keep them in place.

Blockbuster or Flop? Blockbuster! I received over $55.00 worth of high quality beauty products for only $10.00. I love getting pretty packages in the mail. I love a bargain. And I love trying new things. Sounds like a win to me.
