It’s funny some times you just need a wake-up call. I was looking in the mirror and noticed some new wrinkles. Ack!! It sort of freaked me out. I have always been good about staying out of the sun, wearing sunscreen, etc. but suddenly I was propelled that I really needed to spruce up my beauty routine. It had gotten pretty stale. I don’t think I have bought new makeup or skincare in years. I will wander into Sephora every now and again but rarely buy anything because I just don’t know where to start and end up leaving. Same thing at Target or drugstores, I hate buying things, bring them home and then hating them because I couldn’t test them. It became a frustrating cycle and I sort of gave up there. But don’t get me wrong, I call myself a low high-maintence girl. I get my nails done (acrylics), get my haircolored (nasty grays go away) and wear make-up everday but I am not fussy about it.

So, I recently went on a quest to upgrade my beauty stash. I have always mixed high and low end stuff. I LOVE a good deal too. One of my recent discoveries is ELF cosmetics. You can only buy them at Target or online. Their product is really great and super cheap!! Most things are $1.00-$3.00. My first thought was that there was no way something so cheap could be quality but trust me it is! I love their makeup brushes, brush cleaner, blush and waterproof eyeliner.

Now ladies, this stuff is the bomb diggity. I use to use Urban Decay’s liquid eyeliner but a) it’s expensive and b) I kept managing to tip it over and lose about half of it. Then, one day I discovered this little gem for $1.00 at Target! This waterproof eyeliner doesn’t budge, smudge and lasts all day and night. The felt tip applicator glides on easily for perfect strokes. I use it everyday and one pen lasts me about 2 months.

I have tried and love their Studio Blushes too. They are pretty close to NARS blushes in packaging, colors and wear. I was really impressed with the pigmentation of these blushes. They sweep on beautifully and are very natural. They truly have something for every skin tone and for $3.00, you can afford to play around.

And as I mentioned before, I love their brushes. They are really well made. I have no shedding with mine, they clean easily, hold their shape, are soft and perform like champs. They have a really wide variety too..something for every application.

I have only found one dud so far and that is their make-up wipes. They smell awful and sting my eyes. I am going back to baby wipes (a makeup artist trick.) I love the Target ones that come in the purple package for sensitive skin. They are way cheaper than the specialty makeup wipes like Ponds or Neutrogena. I think you get like 80 wipes to a package for $1.99 or 3 packs for $4.99 vs. 25 of the others for $4.99. That’s a big savings. I think Elf’s brush cleaner spray has the same scent so I am staying away from that too.

Right now ELF is having a sale on their website for 1/2 off Studio products. That is a sale!!!! There are a bunch of new items I think I “need” to get ;)

I will be bringing you more beauty finds in the coming weeks!!

Oh….and if you are in the mood for a virtual make-over, my kit Curl Up and Dye is the perfect place to start. It’s loaded with wigs, make-up, salon elements and more to gussy you and yours right up! If you have a personal beauty blog, you can use this kit to dress it up too.
